This was a gift to my husband. I buy the current year's essays for him for Christmas each year. He may not always agree with all of them, but feels they are thoughtful and always give him another point of view to consider. Over all, he highly recommends them.

An Inspiring Tour of the Modern Essay -- Not what you think!

The introduction by Jonathan Franzen was worth the price of the book, and his essay selections were among the best I've seen in this series..It's much more open and creative than I believed it was, and wiped the dust off the form as I had known it in my school days!
