About the Author
After surviving the Vietnam War, Captain Bill Collier continued to have many adventures flying helicopters commercially all around the world. He flew almost every size and shape helicopter produced in the U.S. from the smallest “whirlybird” to the largest CH-53 “Jolly Green.” His last position was flying the UH-1 “Super Huey” for the Orange County Fire Department in Southern California. He also flew the French-built Alouette III. In 2008, Captain Bill retired to the small, peaceful town of Sandpoint, in the Idaho panhandle. He keeps himself busy writing about his 32 years of helicopter flying. He is a life member of several veterans organizations. He is already at work on additional books from his lifelong experiences in flying helicopters.

What a terrific read! This puts you right in the pilot's seat, right in the action. If you want to know what real combat was like, I recommend to everyone the reading of this book.

That "old dog" could really fly

A great read about a great helicopter. That "OLD DOG" could do many things and still get the crew back for a good "cold one". Capt. Bill's accounts of the harrowing situations that he had were not uncommon for all of the pilots serving in Viet Nam. Sure brought back lots of memories.

I never thought I would be able to read a book about Viet-Nam. This book entertained me, enlightened me, and allowed me to explore parts of my own experience in "the Nam" that I avoided. I actually enjoyed this book and am going to pursue some of my buried recollections now. Thanks Captain Collier.
